S’ville Families Get New Court Eviction Order
More than 100 families who had their evictions delayed on Thursday in observance of a nationally broadcast speech by Prime Minister Hun Sen have once again been ordered to move out, according to local officials. Provincial governor Sboang Sarath said yesterday that the provincial court had issued a new order for the families to leave by tomorrow. … “We have prepared 150 police and military police to keep the security during the removal.” Ung Setha, the chief of Phuom Bei village in Sihanoukville’s Myoy commune, said 137 families have been living on the site since 1993, which under the Land Law should give them the right to apply for legal titles. …
